A CASE OF SOLITARY SPLENIC METASTASIS FOR BLADDER CANCER

1995
A 59-year-old woman, who was receiving medical treatment on an ambulant basis following cystectomy for a cancer of the bladder in August, 1992, was seen at the hospital because of a left hypochondralgia in May, 1992. The patient was referred to the department. Abdominal ultrasonography and CT revealed a tumor of the spleen. Splenectomy was performed. A histopathological diagnosis indicated metastasis of bladder cancer to the spleen. The patient did not suffer from any other complications and was discharged from the hospital 27 days after the surgery. In August, 1992, the patient experienced a recurrence of the cancer in the lung and died 5 months after splenectomy. With a brief documental observation, our experience of this case of metastatic carcinoma of the spleen is presented here.
