Deficiência e tecnologia assistiva: um olhar para a sociedade

This article aims to present a reflection on the concept of disability through the perspective of normality, presenting the evolution of the models used to classify people with disabilities in Brazil. These tend to move away from the biomedical perspective, replacing it with a purely social view. Some weaknesses of this approach are herein emphasized. The intensive use of Assistive Technology brings up some variables that indicate the need to create new models for functional and social classification of disability.
