Indoor optical communication self-adaptive pulse amplitude modulation (PAM) method based on LED array

2015
The invention discloses an indoor optical communication self-adaptive PAM method based on an LED array. A reception end estimates channel information and the reception signal to noise ratio according to the pilot frequency, and back feeds the estimation information to a sending end; according to the present channel information and the signal to noise ratio, the sending end calculates the minimal distance among PAM constellation points under the given system bit error rate; according to the minimal distance, the maximal constellation point number that can be reached and different switch states of the constellation points corresponding to the LED array are determined; the sending end controls ON/OFF of the LED array according to the correspondence; and the reception intensities of different combinations of optical signals received by the reception end differ, and the optical signals are received and transmitted. The method solves the problem that an indoor optical communication amplitude modulation method in the prior art does not consider that amplitude attenuation from different LEDs to the reception end differs, and compared with non-adaptive pulse amplitude modulation, the data rate and the frequency utilization rate can be effectively improved.
