2004
This article seeks to provide a way of looking at differences among people that address the cultural competence of pastoral caregivers. The author provides a comprehensive definition of cultural competence and cultural typing as an alternative way to view culture and possible theologically based pastoral responses to different cultures. Cultural typing can be applied to a variety of treatment situations. However, the author seeks to help pastoral care providers to increase their cultural sensitivity and awareness through the adaptation of these new perspectives.
