The use of combination recombinant polypeptide and DNA vaccines against foot-and-mouth disease virus induces specific immune responses in guinea pigs

2001
The O foot-and-mouth disease virus(FMDV)-neutralizing antibody and specific T cell proliferative response were generated in immunized animals, and 50% of guinea pigs were protected from viral challenge. The study demonstrated that it is a promising strategy to prevent FMDV infection by vaccination a single time with DNA plus recombinant polypeptide vaccines, which warrants further active investigation.
