Synthesis and local anesthetic activity of benzo[b]furan derivatives.

Abstract Several 2-dialkylaminoethyl 3-methyl-2-benzo[ b ]furancarboxylates, 2-dialkylaminoethyl 3-methyl-2-benzo[ b ]furanca1bamates, and 3-methyl-2-benzo[ b ]furancarboxamided erivatives were prepared and tested for local anesthetic activity. Piperidinoethyl 3-methyl-2-benzo[ b ]furancarbamate, 2-diethylaminoethyl 3-methyl-2-benzo[ b ]-furancarboxylate, and N-(2-diethylaminoethyl)-3-methyl-2-benzo[ b ]-furancarboxamide were the most potent.
