Final Technical Report for Analytical Assessments Related to Microbubble Drag Reduction

Abstract : In this project, the Hemispheric Center for Environmental Technology (HCET) at Florida International University conducted computational studies of the microbubble drag reduction mechanism. The objective of the research was to assess the roles of mixture density variation and surface roughness in microbubble drag reduction. The research was carried out in collaboration with the Applied Research Laboratory (ARL) at Pennsylvania State University, where substantial experimental research and theoretical understanding and modeling research have been conducted in this area. The principal work scope was carried out by HCET with ARL providing data and guidance and recommending models and analysis tools to support the research.
