Does every retroperitoneal mass associated with undescended testicle represent testicular tumor or its metastasis

2003
We are presenting a 36 year old male patientwho was diagnosed to have a right pararenalmass on CT scan taken for evaluation of hislong lasting urinary stone disease andaccompanying undescended right testicle. Hesubsequently underwent a retroperitoneal lymphnode dissection for possible testicular tumoror its metastasis in the undescended testicleor retroperitoneal primary tumor, which cameout to be non malignant tissue. We confirmedthat the highest possible location of thetesticle when undescended is at the level ofthe internal inguinal ring, and paracavalmasses associated with undescended testicles donot necessarily represent a testicular tumor inthe retained testicle, its metastasis or anextragonadal germ cell tumor (EGT), and furtherwork should be done to illuminate the nature ofsuch cases.
