Synthesis and Properties of Azulene-Substituted Thiophenes, Terthiophenes and Dithienothiophenes

Title compounds (III), (V), and (VII) are prepared using Sonogashira—Hagihara conditions and show the small HOMO-LUMO energy gaps due to their effective π-conjugation.
