Acquired megacolon complicated by massive rectal intussusception and volvulus of the sigmoid

A case of dolichosigmoid complicated by rectosigmoidal intussusception and volvulus of the sigmoid has been presented. As far as we know, this is the only instance, reported in medical literature, of these two conditions occurring in the same patient. A brief discussion of the surgical management of these conditions is provided.
