Monozygotic incomplete caudal duplication in a German Holstein calf

2014
Congenital duplications are rare entities in cattle. This report deals with an incomplete caudal duplication case of a dairy calf, which exhibited a supernumerary limb attached to the pelvic region, a polydactyly, a bifid scrotum containing one testis each, a diphallus, an atresia ani and a recto-vesical fistula. Genotyping of the tissues of the calf and the pygomelus using the bovine SNP50 v2 BeadChip demonstrated that the origin of this malformation was from one zygote.
