Preparation and characterization of acetyl acetylation of hydroxypropyl cellulose.

Hydroxypropyl cellulose grafting acetoacetyl group (AG) was successfully synthesized. The structure of the product was characterized with FT-infrared spectroscopy, X-ray diffraction analysis and scanning electronic microscope. The thermal properties of the product were tested with thermogravimetry analysis (TG) and differential scanning calorimetry(DSC). The result shows that the thermal properities of HPC have been reinforced after the hydroxypropyl cellulose acetyl acetoacetylation reaction.
