The Effect of Passive Traction Treatment on The Muscle Spasm of Patients Suffering from Hemipiegia

[ Objective ] To observe the effect of passive traction treatment on the muscle spasm of patients suffered from hemiplegia. [Method] To take the 30 patients ( Ashworth grade ranged from Ⅰ to Ⅲ ) suffering from hemiplegia divided into 2 groups. 15 patients received the passive traction and massage treatment every- day for 2 months, serving as treatment group. The other 15 patients received the massage as control. Muscle tension was evaluated using Ashworth grade. [Result] The muscle tension of the patients in the treatment group was improved significantly, and the efficiency was 86. 67% ;While the muscle tension of the patients in the control group was not improved significantly, and the efficiency was 40. 00%. There was significant difference between the two groups. ( P 0. 05) [Conclusion] The passive traction is a effective treatment for the patients suffering from cerebral palsy and hemiplegia.
