Sulfur capture during combustion of coal/sorbent fuel pellets

1985
Fuel pellets were evaluated to trace the fate of sulfur compounds at various stages of combustion. Combustion tests were conducted in air and pyrolysis tests in nitrogen. Fuel and ash sample measurements showed sulfur in the form of CaSO/sub 4/, CaS and CaSO/sub 3/ in the ash. Complex sulfur-containing silicate/aluminate compounds were also observed.
