IDENTIFICATION OF BIOACTIVE CONSTITUENTS IN Calotropis gigantea LEAVES BY GC-MS, HPLC AND FTIR TECHNIQUES

2021
The medicinal plant Calotropis gigantea is a biochemical constituent with potential medicinal properties under the family of Asclepiadaceae. The Calotropis gigantea leaves are used traditionally for the treatment of abdominal, tumors, skin diseases, wounds, insect bites. The medicinal properties of this plant represent it as a valuable source of a medicinal compound.  The bioactive compounds of Calotropis gigantean have been evaluated using GC-MS, HPLC, and FTIR. Major bioactive compounds present Gas Chromatography-Mass Spectroscopy (GC-MS) analysis. The chemical compounds observed in only leaves were Androstane-11,17-Dione, 3-[(Trimethylsilyl)Oxy]-, 17-[O-(Phenylmethyl)Oxime], 3.Alpha.-(Trimethylsiloxy)Cholest-5-Ene, Urs-12-EN-28-Oic acid, 3-Hydroxy-, Methyl ester, (3.BETA.)-, Pseduosarsasapogenin-5, 20-Dien Methyl Ether, Beta. Carotene, 1.Alpha.,2.Alpha.-Epoxy-1.Beta.-Methylcholesta-4,6-Dien-3-One, 3-O-Acetyl-6-Methoxy-Cycloartenol  whereas the rest of the compounds were similar in plants.
