The Dynamic Observation of Neuropeptide-Y Expression and Its Action Exploration after Epileptic Seizures in the Rats Hippocampus
2004
Objective To explore the dynamic changes of NPY expression and its action against the seizures and the influence of extrogenous NPY to the epileptic seizures. Methods Epileptic animal models of adult Sprague-Dawley rats were induced by intraperitoneal injection of pilocarpine, which were divided into four groups including extrogenous NPY interference group. The expression of NPY was investigated by immunohistochemical staining. Results NPY positive cells were increase in the hilus, CA 1 and CA 3 subfield, which expressed dynamicly and aberrant expression of NPY was seen in the granular cell layer of hippocampus in epilepsy group after PILO injection. The number of NPY positive cells in the NPY interference group was fewer than its control group. Conclusions (1)The expression of NPY positive cells was increased after seizures, and aberrant expression of NPY was seen in the granular cell layer of hippocampus, which seemed to be related to seizures.(2)The extrogenous NPY could inhibit the occurrence of the seizures.
