Applying Geographic Information System to Evaluate the Relationship between Highway Accessibility and Economic Development

2021
Research on the relationship between traffic accessibility and economic level provides future development direction for economy and traffic facilities construction. In this paper, the weighted average travel time is used to calculate the accessibility of highway networks, and the principal component analysis is used to calculate the level of economic development. Based on this, the coupling coordination degree model is used to analyze the relationship between the two. This paper takes Huaihe Eco-economic Zone as an empirical case. The results show that the accessibility level of the Zone decreases from the center composed of Huaibei, Suzhou, and Xuzhou City, to the outside in a circle, and the relative accessibility level layout is better in the middle and East. The economic development of counties and districts is unbalanced, and the level of economic development is high in the East and low in the West. The coupling coordination degree of accessibility and economic development level is different between the counties and districts, and the overall region is generally unbalanced.
