FOR the last twenty years the cost of medical care has been rising steadily, and this phenomenon has become the cause of serious professional and public concern. In the latter half of the same period, the impact of this rising cost on the financial resources of the aged has been highlighted and dramatized until finally it is the subject of lively and somewhat bitter political debate. However, we must remember that during all this period medical care has been available to the aged, the aged have been cared for, and the cost has been met in one way or another. . . .
