Local changes in the microstructure of Cd /SUB 0. 2/ Hg /SUB 0. 8/ Te crystals

This paper examines the microstructure of Cd /SUB 0.2/ Hg /SUB 0.8/ Te crystals grown by solid-state recrystallization in an excess pressure of mercury vapor, followed by annealing. The crystal surface was treated with polishing and selective etching agents. The photoemission electron microscope has revealed defects in the microstructure of Cd /SUB x/ Hg /SUB i-x/ Te crystals that are responsible for anomalous galvanometric properties. A local change in the composition of Cd /SUB x/ Hg /SUB 1-x/ Te crystals has been observed after heating.
