Contributions of Information Communication Technology Use to Female Poultry Farmers in Kaduna State

This study appraised the ICT usage and its contributions among the families of female poultry farmers in Kaduna state. Survey research method was adopted with questionnaire as an instrument for data collection. Purposive and simple random sampling techniques were used. The sample size of 120 female farmers was drawn from 3 local government areas of Kaduna state, one LGA per senatorial zone. Data was analysed using descriptive statistics and inferential statistics using regression analysis. Findings from the study revealed that respondents believed that ICT usage contributes more in terms of information sharing followed by effective marketing services as affirm by the The majority of respondents also, the The majority of the female poultry farmers (96%) use radio more often as their source of  information concerning poultry farming. This was followed by mobile phone for information/knowledge sharing among respondents with (90%) responses. The study further discovered that educational level, experiences, farm size, income level and power supply significantly influences use of ICT by women poultry farmers at 1% significant level. The study recommends that government and private sectors/NGO should facilitate more access to ICT materials such as the Internet and computers with regular power supply.
