Clinical Study of Pelvic Autonomic Nerve Preservation in Curative Excision of Male Patients with Rectal Cancer

Objective:To evaluate the effects of pelvic autonomic nerve preservation(PANP) in radical resection of rectal carcinoma on the sexual and urinary functions of male patients.Methods: The sexual and urinary dysfunctions rate of 90 male patient who with PANP or without PANP in radical resection of rectal carcinoma were analyzed.Results: The erectile dysfunction rates were 26.7% and 57.8%,the ejaculatory dysfunction rates were 24.5% and 60.0%,the urinary dysfunction rates were 28.9% and 62.2% in PANP group(45 cases) and without PANP group(45 cases),respectively,all P0.01.Conclusions: The rate of sexual and urinary dysfunctions could be signficantaly reduced by PANP in radical resection of male patients with rectal carcinoma.
