The Role of GADD45α in Maintaining Genomic Stability and Tumor Suppression

2011
A series of signaling pathways are activated in the mammalian cells in response to the genotoxic stresses, which results to cell growth arrest,DNA repair and apoptosis, etc. As one of the growth arrest and DNA damage-inducible gene family members,GADD45α plays a critical role in maintaining the genomic stability, regulating cell cycle progression,DNA repair, cell senescence and apoptosis, which effects are closely related to both tumor promotion and suppression. Here we summarized the diverse roles of GADD45α in tumor suppression and the according molecular mechanisms.
