Background: anxiety is a neurotic helplessness, insecurity, immature, and inability to face the demands of reality (environment), difficulties and stresses of daily life (Annisa & Ifdil, 2016). Someone's anxiety can be influenced by health problems they experience (Stuart, 2013). As a person ages, the more diseases that arise and often suffer, especially in the elderly or elderly. In old age various setbacks will occur in the body's organs, therefore the elderly are easily affected by diseases such as hypertension (Andriana, 2013). Patients with hypertension become anxious due to hypertension which tends to require relatively long treatment, there is a risk of complications and can shorten life (Hawari, 2013). Purpose: This study aims to determine the description of anxiety in elderly patients with hypertension. Method: The number of samples in this study were 96 respondents. This research is quantitative by using descriptive research methods. The sampling technique in this study is random sampling. The data collection technique uses the zsas questionnaire 2 ZSAS (Zung Self-Rating Anxiety Scale).The analysis in this study uses univariate analysis with frequency distribution. Results: the results of the analysis of the anxiety level test were mild anxiety by 10 respondents (10.4%) moderate anxiety by 75 respondents (78.1%) and severe anxiety by 11 respondents (11.5%). Suggestion: For the wider community, especially hypertension sufferers to be more aware of the importance of maintaining mental health. Keywords: Anxiety, hypertension
