NaSr3Be3B3O9F4 Crystal Growth and Fourth Harmonic Generation at 266nm

Abstract A high quality NaSr3Be3B3O9F4 (NSBBF) crystal with dimensions of 30×25×20mm3 was grown from a modified NaF-LiF-B2O3 flux system using a seed oriented normal to the (101) plane. The effect of the temperature gradient on crystal growth is discussed. NSBBF possessed a large laser-induced surface damage threshold with a value of 7.9GW/cm2. A maximum output power of 450 mW was obtained by the fourth harmonic generation of the Nd:YAG laser system with a pulse width of 10ns, repetition of 10kHz in a 5.0mm thick NSBBF crystal.
