Use of Torin (sertraline) in the Treatment of Depressive and Obsessive-Compulsive Disorders in Children

2011
A total of 37 children aged 7–12 years with depressive and obsessive-compulsive disorders were studied. Patients were treated with Torin (sertraline) given once daily at a dose of 25–50 mg for four weeks. Drug efficacy was evaluated using the Pediatric Neurosis Questionnaire (PNQ) and the Spilberger–Hanin Anxiety Scale. Torin was found to be highly effective and safe. By the end of the treatment period, complete reductions in obsessive and depressive signs were achieved in 37.5% of the patients, with improvements in 51.9%. Side effects and adverse events were not seen. The authors recommend Torin as an antidepressant for children.
