Tata Iron and Steel Co. Builds New Laboratories A new era in the progress of industrial research in this country is envisaged by the opening of the Technical Control and Research Laboratories of the Tata Iron and Steel Co. The large laboratory building has been designed to house the metallurgical, chemical, refractories, and fuel departments, and the technical library. The metallurgical section is provided with rooms for routine mechanical testing of the company's products and with laboratories for melting and heat treatment of steels and nonferrous metals, and the etching of large pieces of steel, including ingots, in order to observe their internal structures.
