Diagnostics and Differential Diagnostics of Spinal Cord Tumors

2019
Spinal cord tumors are rare tumors with nonspecific clinical symptoms, usually occurring in the late stage of the disease resulting in delayed diagnosis. Radicular symptoms and other symptoms such as back pain, slowly progressive neurologic deficits, or skeletal deformities, such as kyphoscoliosis, are commonly observed in children. Spinal cord tumors amount to between 20 and 30% of all primary intradural spinal tumors. About 70–80% of the remaining primary intradural tumors are located in the intradural-extramedullary compartment.
