Background: The developments towards a com- bined specialty of orthopaedic and trauma sur- gery requires not only the consolidation and revi- sion of the postgraduate education training pro- gramme but also the development of a catalogue of learning objectives as a uniform basis for undergraduate medical training in the new spe- cialty at German medical schools and teaching hospitals.
