Design and Analysis of Aerospike Nozzle

The Aerospike engine is a type of rocket engine, used to maintain the aerodynamic efficiency across the altitudes. These engines are designed by the single stage to orbit (SSTO) and this type of engines can reduce 25-30% of Specific Fuel Consumption (SFC). The shape of exhaust nozzle used in Aerospike engine was conventional bell shaped nozzle turned inside out. The objective of work is to examine the effect of flow fields and performance in the aerospike nozzle can be find out using CFD and ANSYS tool for different flow field properties. In the previous work this Aerospike nozzle is suitable only for low altitude is already proved. Hence the focusing of work is after analyzing for different flow field properties, to reduce the SFC in sounding rocket launching this type of Aerospike nozzle may be used in future endeavor.
