Sitting in meditation is a way applied by the Confucians of idealistic philosophy of the Song and Ming Dynasties to cultivate their moral character.The specific methods were not created by Confucians but borrowed from Buddhism and Taoism.Gradually the positive effects of sitting in meditation have been found,emphasizd and studied.Eventually it has become a new way for people to build up their bodies and an important part of recreation.
