Fission in Lead on Proton and Deuteron Reactions at 500 A MeV

2014
Abstract Fission induced by lead projectiles impinging protons and deuterons at 500 A MeV has been investigated using inverse kinematics. Total fission cross sections and charge distributions of both fission fragments have been determined. The accuracy of the measured cross sections has solved some previous discrepancies. Partial fission cross sections and the widths of the charge distributions of the fission fragments, both investigated as a function of the sum of the charge of both fission fragments, clearly indicate the role of dynamical effects in high energy fission.
