The influence of errors of the velocity measurement on the estimates of Mössbauer spectra parameters

1979
The influence of errors in the measurement of the source velocity about the absorber on the estimates of Mossbauer spectra parameters, obtained by the least-squares method, is considered. It is shown that the least-squares method with weights inversely proportional to the dispersions of the value being measured, leads to the underestimation of the values for the absorption peak amplitude and of the standard deviation of the peak position. A method of spectrum treatment is suggested which takes into consideration the velocity errors. According to this method the effective weights and shifts depending on the spectrometer parameters such as non-linearity, velocity noise etc. are introduced into the least-squares procedure.
