Compact Wideband Printed Quasi-Yagi Antenna Fed by Monopole Element

2020
In this paper, the design of a compact wideband printed quasi-Yagi antenna with monopole as driven element is proposed. The property of a printed monopole antenna over the ground plane is to feed directly with microstrip line is used to avoid the complex feeding structures for printed quasi-Yagi antenna. The prototype antenna with two director elements for GSM/DCS/PCS/IMT/UMTS/LTE-band3 operations has been designed and fabricated. The measurement results show that the proposed antenna has a fractional impedance bandwidth of 33.2% (1.58–2.21 GHz) for S11 < −10 dB and peak gain of 5.77 dBi with maximum front-to-back ratio of 21.5 dB. The antenna has simple design with overall dimension reduced to 0.35 × 0.41 λ02, where λ0 is free space wavelength at center frequency 1.9 GHz.
