An empirical study on the development of exponential window for filter applications
2014
The Exponential window, which was previously proposed by the author, is an adjustable window having two parameters to control its spectral characteristic. It exhibits worse filtering performance in terms of minimum stopband attenuation compared to well known Kaiser and Cosh windows. In this study, it is aimed to develop the Exponential window its function in order to provide better filter characteristics. The proposed window is analyzed in terms of filter spectral parameters and then comparisons with Kaiser, Cosh and Exponential windows are performed for different filter lengths. The simulation results demonstrate that by choosing the proper parameters a significant filtering improvement for Exponential window can be obtained. Moreover, filter comparison examples show that using the proposed window a better minimum stopband attenuation than the Kaiser, Cosh and Exponential windows can be provided.
