Lanthanon(III) Amido Complexes

Abstract Ln(NHCOR)3 (I) and Ln(SCNHCH3)3 (II) are prepared and characterized by elemental analysis, electronic and infrared spectra (Ln = La, Pr, Nd, Sm; R = CH3, C6H5, C5H4N). The bonding of matal to amide is through nitrogen in I while it is through sulphur in II. Electronic spectra indicate development of covalant character of bonding in these compounds. Thermogravimetric studies of the acetamido complexes are reported.
