TiAl-β and CrAPO-5 as heterogeneous catalysts for selective oxidations in the liquid phase

1995
Abstract Titanium zeolite beta (TiAl-β) and chromium aluminophosphate-5 (CrAPO-5) have been synthesized and characterized. TiAl-β catalyzes the epoxidation of 1-octene with H 2 O 2 or tert -butyl hydroperoxide (TBHP) as oxidant. A significant improvement in selectivity to epoxide was achieved when the Bronsted acid sites were exchanged with alkali metal ions. CrAPO-5 is an effective catalyst for the decomposition of cyclohexyl hydroperoxide, and the selective oxidation of benzylic alcohols and hydrocarbons to the corresponding ketones with TBHP or O 2 as oxidant. Evidence is presented in support of the substitution of chromium for aluminium in the AlPO 4 -5 framework and reaction inside the micropores of CrAPO-5.
