Evaluating Dimensions of Social Capital and its Role in Improving Knowledge Management (Case of Robaat Karim Municipality)

The present study, due to the role and importance of the social capital and the knowledge management which have been considered as the key resources of an organization, has tried to elaborate on these two intangible assets and organizational strategic resources for the sustainable development and organizational advantage of organizations. Hence, it has been tried to evaluate the relationship between the social capital and its aspects such as the structural, cognitive and relational aspects and the development of the knowledge management in the municipality of Robaat Karim. Also it tries to evaluate the current conditions of social capital and knowledge management in this organization. The present study is descriptive-analytical and is correlational. In this study, questionnaires distributed through 160 members including managers and staff of the municipality of Robaat Karim. Data was analysed based on descriptive and inferential analysis using SPSS. To consider the relationship between the knowledge management and social capital, the Pearson correlation coefficient test and the regression analysis and structural equation modelling and factor analysis have been used and to test the sample normality, kolmogorov-smirnov test has been used. In line with the hypotheses of the study, the correlation coefficients show a strong and significant relationship between the social capital and the knowledge management. The results of this study also show that the knowledge management and the social capital in the municipality of Robaat Karim are not in a good condition and the performance of the municipality in both dimensions have been evaluated to be poor.
