Reactions of (η-methylcyclopentadienyl) manganese tricarbonyl with primary amines

Abstract (η-CH 3 C 5 H 4 )Mn(CO) 3 reacts with RNH 2 (R = n-C 4 H 9 , sec-C 4 H 9 , n-C 5 H 11 , n-C 6 H 13 , cyclo-C 6 H 11 , n-C 7 H 15 , n-C 8 H 17 , n-C 9 H 19 or C 6 H 5 CH 2 ) to give corresponding sym -dialkylureas when a 1 : 2 molar mixture of the two reactants is irradiated with UV light for 100–250 h. The complexes (η-CH 3 C 5 H 4 Mn(CO) 2 (CONHR)(H) were isolated for R = n-C 4 H 9 , n-C 6 H 13 and cyclo-C 6 H 11 .
