Fluid transfer applications

2008
Fluid transfer insert (50) for passing fluid between a plurality of fluid openings (26A-26L) in a shaft assembly (10), the fluid transfer insert (50) comprises: a cylindrical outer surface (56) which communicates with the shaft assembly (10) sealingly engaged with the outer surface (56) has a plurality of fluid channels (66A-66D) each of which is defined each by a bottom surface (70) and a pair of end walls (72, 74) extending in the fluid transfer insert (50) into extend, and a pair of side walls (76) extending in the fluid transfer insert (50) into each of the fluid channels (66A-66D) in fluid communication with at least a pair of fluid ports (26B, 26E; 26C, 26D; 26H, 26K; 26I, 26J) in the shaft assembly (10); an inner surface (54) defining a central passage (62) which is coaxial with the shaft assembly (10); a fluid port (65) which is connected to the central passage (62) and having a fluid opening (26F, 26L) in the shaft assembly (10); a first end (58) having a hole (64) defined, which is connected to the central passage (62) and at least one of the fluid apertures (26A, 26G) connected in the shaft assembly; a second end (60) comprising a radial flange (80) to engage the shaft assembly (10); and a projection (82) extending from the radial flange (80) outwardly to communicate with the shaft assembly (10) in engagement to prevent the fluid transfer insert (50) with respect to the shaft assembly (10) rotates; and wherein fluid flow from one of the fluid apertures (26A, 26B, 26C, 26G, 26H, 26I) in the shaft assembly (10) through one of the fluid channels (66A-66D) and the central passage (62) to another one of the fluid ports (26D, 26E, 26F, 26J, 26K, 26L) (in the shaft assembly 10) is passed.
