Assessing the Reliability of a Compact Electronic Fluorescent Lamp

This paper present s the rel iability assessment of a C ATA® Compact Electronic Fluorescent lamp (also known as Energy Saver F luorescent l amp). T he part stre ss m ethod was e mployed to assess its reliability. Data on the generic failure rate of t he constituent co mponents o f t he system were used, w ith special consideration given to factors like environment of use and quality of power supply. This study also makes a c omparative assessment of the reliability of the lamp in t he environment for w hich it was designed (China) with t he l ocal environment (Nigeria).
