Abstract In teh enzymatic transformation of cholic acid by the culture Mycobacterium mucosum 1210, 7α,12α-dihydroxy-3-oxo-Δ 4 -bisnorcholenic acids have been isolated and identified (in the form of methyl esters). Thus a microbiological α-oxidation of the side chain of cholic acid has been demonstrated.
