The viability of social enterprises: A configurational approach to typologies of social entrepreneurship success in Sub-Saharan Africa

2020
This paper addresses the question, “How are different organisational structures associated with financial viability of social enterprises, in Sub-Saharan Africa?”. Using Qualitative Comparative Analysis (QCA), we seek to determine how various organizational structures, seen as configurations of Innovation, Social/ Market orientation, Business model, Institutional environment and Legal Form, influence Financial Viability. We hereby contribute to our understanding of SEs as an organizational form addressing grand challenges from a configurational perspective.
