Molecular dynamic simulation for hybrid enhanced oil recovery processes

2021
Abstract Molecular dynamic simulation (MDS) is an effective technique to measure the behavior of fluids at the molecular level. In this chapter, this method is applied to studying the occurrence state of heavy oil molecules in porous media. In addition, adsorption configurations of heavy oil molecules on different pore surfaces are discussed. The effects of temperature on a contact angle of heavy oil are also studied by MDS. Then, based on molecular models, the performance of three different hybrid EOR processes is investigated by MDS. Thus, the effects of different additives on the adsorption configurations of heavy oil molecules are addressed.
