Provided is a method for producing a beer-like sparkling beverage, whereby offensive smell components such as a purine body and hydrogen sulfide can be removed by a treatment using activated carbon without excessively reducing bitter components and favorable aroma components. The method according to the present invention for producing a beer-like sparkling beverage comprises, after a step for mashing starting materials, contacting the thus obtained solution with activated carbon having an average pore diameter less than 1.0 nm to thereby conduct the treatment using activated carbon. The beer-like sparkling beverage according to the present invention has a purine body concentration of 0.4 mg/100 ml or less, an iso-α-butyric acid content of 10-20 ppm, a linalool content of 15-30 ppb, a β-citronellol content of 1.5-6 ppb, a geraniol content of 1.0-5.0 ppb, a β-phenethyl alcohol content of 5.0-15 ppm and a hydrogen sulfide concentration of 3 ppb or less.
