There are proposed an apparatus for switching an exhaust gas turbocharger and an exhaust gas turbocharger with such a device. The device is applied for exhaust gas turbocharger (1) with variable turbine geometry, as well as for other turbocharger (z. B. waste gate turbocharger) having an (electronically) controlled actuator. By means of a switching signal P is switched by a controlled mode A with a charge pressure controller (2) in an unregulated mode B with a supercharging pressure control (3), said delay means (4) is provided with which the switching signal B is delayed in time can be generated.
