Influence of some cultural practices on quantitative traits of sugar beet in multi-year trials and commercial production

2007
Becouse of it's own requirements for production factors and agro-practices sugar beet mostly calls "queen of fields" or "queen of agro-practices". For that reason, errors in sugar beet production have more unwanted effects on yield in relation to other growing crops. In production conditions, in period 1999 to 2003 year, where preceding crops was small grains - sugar beet root yield was lost in amount of 48.873 t, or 1.075 t of sugar yearly, on 25.4% of totally seeded areas. In case that the same errors was have made on remaining 75% areas, losing would have been more (4.232 t of sugar). Becouse of too early or late tillage, production was reduced for 146.249 t of root yield, or 3.217 t of sugar yearly. In trials, manure was increased root yield for 14 18%, and in production conditions for 19.9%. Applaying phosphorus and potassium in amounts more than lOOkgha-1, root yield was decreased for 0,97-2,23 tha-' and sugar yield for 420 and 540 kgha-1. By using nitrogen in amounts more than 50 kgha-1, root yield was increased for 1,51 and 4,55 tha-1 but sugar yield was decreased for 170 and 20 kgha-1. At the same time, and sugar content was reduced for 1,02 and 1,62%. Foregoing data decidedly demonstrate fact that sugarbeet is "queen of fields". Errors in this culture production have a costiness.
