The Anthropogenic Impact on the Abrasion Coast of the Kaliningrad Region on the Example of the Village of Donskoe

2020
Anthropogenic impact on the coastal zone can be seen across the coastal regions. Most often it manifests itself in the form of tourism and recreational activities, as well as in residential and social infrastructure. The Kaliningrad region happens to experience another kind of impact which is illegal amber extraction. This led to the virtual loss of the potential tourist attraction object, the coastline in the village of Donskoe. The conducted research has shown that the volume of the displaced material due to illegal activities exceeds that of the storm effect. A previously stable site turned into a destroyed one, when an increase in wave-denudation can result in problems in the cottage settlement there. Such illegal activities are specific for the Baltic sea region and have gained additional distribution not only on the western coast, but also on the northern coast of the Sambian Peninsula. The impact of human activity on the process of activating erosion geological processes in certain areas raises concerns for the future state of these territories.
