Preparation and investigation of Ca2.96(P0.99B0.01O4)2:0.04Dy3+ single-phase full-color phosphor

2014
Abstract Novel single-phased white-light-emitting Ca 2.96 (P 0.99 B 0.01 O 4 ) 2 :0.04Dy 3+ phosphors for light-emitting diode (LED) applications were synthesized by conventional solid-state reactions. The phases and luminescent properties of the obtained Ca 2.96 (P 0.99 B 0.01 O 4 ) 2 :0.04Dy 3+ phosphors were well characterized. The results show that the excited bands of Ca 2.96 (P 0.99 B 0.01 O 4 ) 2 :0.04Dy 3+ phosphor centered at wavelengths of 324 nm ( 6 H 15/2 → 4 M 17/2 ), 350 nm ( 6 H 15/2 → 4 M 15/2 , 6 P 7/2 ), 366 nm ( 6 H 15/2 → 4 I 11/2 ), 387 nm ( 6 H 15/2 → 4 I 13/2 , 4 F 7/2 ), 427 nm ( 6 H 15/2 → 4 G 11/2 ), and 448 nm ( 6 H 15/2 → 4 I 15/2 ). On excitation at 350 nm, the emission transitions of Dy 3+ consisted of double emission bands, which can be assigned to the transition emissions of 4 F 9/2 → 6 H 15/2 (480 nm) and 4 F 9/2 → 6 H 13/2 (572 nm). One mol% B 3+ dopant improved the luminescence intensity of Ca 2.96 (PO 4 ) 2 :0.04Dy 3+ phosphor, and the reason was proposed. The developed phosphor has great potential as a single-component white-light-emitting phosphor for UV-light-emitting diodes.
