Introduction Phyllodes tumors of the breast are fibroepithelial neoplasms characterized by monoclonal neoplastic stromal cells and epithelial cells. Histologically, these tumors are distinguished by broad ‘leaf-like’ fronds hence the tumor is called phyllodes, which is Greek for ‘leaflike.’ The incidence of phyllodes tumors is highest in the sixth deade of life, and the mean age of diagnosis is 50. Most tumors are detected as a palpable mass and tumor size at presentation is highly variable. The tumors can be as small as a few centimeters or large enough to encompass nearly the entire breast.
