서비스디자인방법을 활용한 초등학생 안전 교육용 보드게임의 개발

2017
Background : There is a growing need to efficiently carry out safety training for children due to the frequent occurrence of disasters and safety accidents. However, most safety education programs provided at elementary schools are unilateral and incorporate boring audiovisual aids. This study aims to suggest a board game for safety training which can be utilized for elementary school children to learn accident prevention and coping methods through playing games. Methods : For the study, first, we elicited the categories of safety education contents and service items needed for safety education by analyzing the safety education contents and their service items on the web sites for organizations that provide safety education. Second, we analyzed major safety education contents and related board games. Third, based on the analysis of the above research, we created a board game design and its prototype. Fourth, we conducted service prototyping with elementary students and carried out brain wave measurement and interviews with them to verify the effectiveness and usability of the board game design. Lastly, we modified the prototype by taking into consideration of the evaluation results and suggested a final design for the board game. Results : The results of an audio visual education and a safety training board game carried out in the first class and the second class respectively, and brain wave measurements and interviews conducted after playing the safety education board game revealed that the children had much interest in the safety education board game and responded to the alpha wave, which would improve their concentration and thinking abilities. Thus we determined that the safety board game was more effective for safety education than using typical audio visual contents. Conclusions : The effectiveness of the safety board game through service prototyping of the game was verified. We expect this study will contribute to the safety of individuals, households and the country by providing effective safety education tools for elementary students.
